PROTECTRION AGENCY
The Director General National Institute of Management (A constituent unit of
National School of Public Policy) is requested the Director General Sindh
Environmental Protection Agency regarding facilitating of thirty-seven
Government Officers (19) to arrange the inland study visit and brief about the
Sindh Environmental Protection Agency. The participants were belonging to
various groups; such as Police Services of Pakistan, Pakistan Administrative
Services, Foreign Services of Pakistan, Economist Group, Provincial Management
Services, Ex-PCS, Ex-cadre, Baluchistan Civil Services, Health Management
cadre, Pakistan Custom Services, Pakistan Railway. The purpose of the visit was
to provide opportunity to receive first-hand information about the policy
interventions, reforms, functioning of the department/organizations and their
performance to the participants.
The Director General of Sindh Environmental Protection Agency is successfully
organizing the inland visits of pharmaceutical and textile units and give detail
presentation on functioning, power of the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency,
also brief on Sindh Environmental Protection Act-2014, Regulatory Framework
framed under the SEP Act, Operational clauses/sections, Pollution its causes and
sources, impacts of the pollution on human health and other living organisms.
In addition, to Director General sheds lights on efforts of the SEPA to curb the
pollution as installed pollution prevention equipments in industrial sectors which
includes, coal power plant, cement plant, cotton ginning factory. He highlights the
stoppage of activities of informal sectors which badly damaging the environment
such as illegal burning of batteries, illegal kilns.

Furthermore, the Director General highlights the tree plantation drive which
contributed the improvement of the environment. Finally, the Director General
emphasizes the importance of the Sindh Environmental Protection Act of 2014 for
ensuring a sustainable future and future action plan of Sindh EPA.
