KARACHI: WWF Pakistan, in collaboration with Sindh Environmental Protection Agency and Pepsi Cola Company, organized a cleaning campaign in the coastal area of West Wharf under its project "Coastal Clean-up," in which large number of local people participated.
During the campaign, the area was cleared of garbage, especially plastic waste, and dustbins were also installed to discourage people from throwing garbage around.
Meanwhile, the local people were also informed about cleanliness, the benefits of a pollution-free environment, and the harms of plastic pollution.
According to WWF, under the coastal clean-up project, the coastal areas will be cleaned of garbage and plastic pollution by involving all the relevant institutions together so that the coastal population can also have a healthy environment and the marine pollution will also be mitigated.
The Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) is engaged in the enforcement of provincial environmental law to prevent pollution in Sindh province, as well as spreading environmental awareness and supporting any activity that promotes public participation in improving the local environment.
