Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) conducted its second consecutive training workshop on Hospital Waste Management (HWM) at JPMC

KARACHI: On Tuesday, the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) conducted its second consecutive training workshop on Hospital Waste Management (HWM) at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), following a similar session at Lyari General Hospital. Doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff were trained on the safe segregation, handling, and disposal of all categories of hospital waste, including infectious, pathological, biomedical, sharps, and non-infectious waste, ensuring responsible management from the point of generation to final disposal.

Held on the special directives of DG SEPA Waqar Hussain Phulpoto, this province-wide capacity-building campaign aims to strengthen infection control, protect healthcare workers and patients, and reduce environmental risks. The initial phase focuses on major government hospitals in Karachi, with the program set to expand to large and small cities across Sindh, turning training into action, and action into safer hospitals and a healthier environment.
