The team of the Hyderabad Region Environmental Protection Agency takes action against polluting hospitals

Hyderabad. On the instructions of Director General Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) Naeem Ahmed Mughal and Region In-charge Imran Ali Abbasi, the technical team of SEPA Hyderabad Region visited the Halal Ahmar General Hospital located in Latifabad No. 6, Hyderabad for an environmental inspection. The hospital's drinking water purification plant was closed, due to which patients were facing difficulties in getting clean water, while there was no proper process for properly separating toxic and hazardous waste and non-hazardous municipal waste in the hospital and the number of color disinfectants was also very low. There was no proper arrangement for PPE in the laboratory, while the cylinders of fire equipment were also missing. While the hospital administration strongly criticized the hospital for not disposing of the waste and garbage generated from the hospital as per the Environmental Act 2014. And it directed to dispose of the toxic waste generated from the hospital in the incinerator as per the Hospital Waste Management Plan and the Hospital Toxic Waste (SEPA) Act 2014 as soon as possible. On this occasion, Abdul Rauf Qureshi told the media that our team keeps visiting hospitals from time to time. They should install a waste management plan and incinerator plant in their hospitals as soon as possible and dispose of the toxic waste of their hospitals in the incinerator as per the Environmental Act 2014, otherwise legal action will be taken against those who do not follow the instructions under the Sindh Environment Protection Agency Act 2014.
